beyond the flesh lies the vessel; beyond the vessel lies the story.
michelle ee treats the body as a porous thing—a vessel that cannot quite contain its own interior weather. her practice is an obsession with the sediment of the inner world; the way a long-held silence or a recurring weight begins to stain the physical architecture of the self.
she is interested in the version of the human that only exists in the private hours—the self that emerges when no one is watching and the surface begins to fail. working with liquid ink and dry pigment, she maps the tension between physical presence and psychological absence. her work is a record of these involuntary states, moving from the quiet exhaustion of a gaze to the structural collapse of a dream. through the fluid language of the stain, ee seeks the point where the biological vessel ends and the narrative begins.
