About
Michelle Ee (b. 1996) is a Malaysian-born artist living in London. Her practice is an obsessive, somatic inquiry into the human vessel—a study of the invisible tension between physical presence and psychological absence.
She does not seek to document the body through clinical anatomy, but through the "leakage" of the internal world. Working with a raw, tactile language of liquid ink and deep aqueous washes, she maps the humans we are when no one is watching. For Michelle, the act of drawing is an exercise in radical transposition: an attempt to bypass the surface to inhabit the sitter’s internal posture, translating the weight of a silence into fluid gestural work and restless, searching lines.
Her current series, Submersion, explores the physical mapping of disappointment, longing, and memory, moving from the heavy weight of the Weighted Gaze to the atmospheric quiet of internal dreams.
